Do you believe that Obama knew about pastor Wright’s radical messages?

Originally, Obama said that he had never heard any of the divisive, radical, extremist sermons given by Pastor Wright…he said he had only heard the positive messages.

http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/13390609/campaign_08_the_radical_roots_of_barack_obama/4

However, now we learn that in April of 2007…Wright and Obama agreed that he may need to distance himself from him because of his presidential aspirations.

http://technorati.com/posts/jhrVvBTXSu0jGweDEmuJyGEF0hU%2FBkZVEx4j1ZB3OYo%3D

So, if Obama knew in 2007 that they guy was a radical, extremist…he obviously knew of these sermons then…so, why did Obama lie? Why didn’t Obama denounce this pastor and the church then?

Considering this pastor is Obama’s mentor, and that Obama titled one of his books after this guy’s sermon, and that this guy married he and his wife, and baptized his daughters…I feel that Obama must agree with him, otherwise he would not be such good friends….

We are our friends

but I am unconviced that the rants of Wright were ongoing themes

people have heard 3min of carefully picked excerpts and think they are experts on the last 20 years of his church. . . When all his sunday masses are on video and sold. . . . . something about that doesn’t pass my BS test

  13. He’s been going to that church for 20 years. He said the pastor is like his uncle. Sounds to me like he’s getting caught in the middle of a lie.

Obama is a “green” politician. There is no doubt that Obama knew how inflammatory and hateful Pastor Wright’s sermons were. I cannot believe that in 20 years, Obama was not in church when such rhetoric was spoken. Pastor Wright embraces and teaches black theology. I’ve done a little research on what that means and it was very apparent that these theologians blame white America for everything. I’ve been a strong supporter of Obama, but now I have serious doubts of his moral character.

  21. 20 years. of course he knew

  22. If you are gullible and naive and love Obama then you would say no . . but if you had any common sense you would say yes . . . if Obama was playin poker on this very issue i would call his BLUFF!

UPDATE, 11:51 p. m. : Searching my inbox, I noticed that the Obama campaign has announced seven superdelegate pickups since March 4. So there might be something to my “steady drip” theory. With seven weeks until Pennsylvania, a constant stream of superdelegate endorsements is a good way to create the impression of momentum–whether or not the supers in question decided to endorse today, yesterday or last month. Conversely, a sudden flood this week might’ve struck observers as a show of pre-March 4 support–and left them wondering whether Obama could keep attracting superdelegates after Clinton’s wins in Ohio and Texas. Now it *looks like* he is.

Black voters, a disaffected young and independent electorate coupled with a disenchanted Black community can easily translate into a drop off of 20% of the turnout.

This calculus can be even more devastating in the 11 states that had African American voter turnout percentages of 13% or more in 2004.

As the young people might say- the Democrats better recognize!

Nancy Pelozi doesn’t care who will be the best president. Nancy Pelozi is only interested in her representatives electibility for the House, which Nancy controls.

Nancy Pelozi is looking less and less attractive as a political figure. She says the right things the Democrats want to hear, and next thing you know, there she is smiling, and grinning ear to ear, standing behind the President while he signs legislation we don’t want. gw.

Posted by: artemis26:So your argument is that “crossovers” would not vote for Obama in the general? Just clarifying, not being confrontational.

    ______________

I don’t think they will. He is untested. Has done little in the senate but run for president. The Wright story was not out when he was getting votes from whites due to his “unity” message. It falls flat now. As I said before, I think he loses that Wright issue any way you slice it. Either he didn’t think his church was controversial or he didn’t know. Which is it? Supporting someone who you say is your “mentor” who says “appalling” things with thousands of dollars is worse than saying them yourself. At least the pastor is being honest.

  26. I believe Barak Obama did know this pastor’s views. He was a member of his congregation after all.

The question is to what degree does Barak Obama agree with the radical racist views of Wright? Right now there can only be speculation on that unless Barak Obama speaks on this matter point by point.

If Barak Obama says he disagrees, then you’ll have to either take him at his word, or consider him to be lying. There is essentailly no net difference to the voting public, because the people inclined to believe Barak Obama are the ones who have been supporting him all along. The people inclined to think he is lying are the people who were planning to vote for someone else anyway, and are glad they have a better pretext for not voting for him.

I don’t think he knew all that his pastor said as we all don’t go to church every Sunday, and he was in Washington DC a lot of the time, plus we never know all that our Friends really think

  28. I think so, but this does not mean he agree with him. Do you agree with some white baptist pastors who preach hate against muslim americans?

  29. who cares??? this man’s radical views are not reflected in obama’s. i believe that people are looking for anything and everything to bring this man down. he’s leading in the polls though isn’t he? you people need to realize that it is ok for people to have their own views and opinions. chill out and exercise your right to vote if you’re so bothered by this man’s radical views and obama supporting him.

  30. NO Doubt he knew and condoned it.

That the way the cookie crumblies

Obama and Wright can exit stage left anytime now.

Obama has no chance of being President now

Barack Obama could not have known, personally I don’t believe that this Wright even spoke of his own accord.

The Clintons paid this man to make these remarks so they could stir up the media and arouse hatred toward Obama so that while peoples attention was taken off of the REAL issues they’d be bashing an innocent man and could steal the White House from Obama and betray the American people into the hands of Satan himself.

I only pray that people will awake from slumber and realize that the Clintons are traitors who value nothing more than to see the nation divided over foolish arguments while they go about their dirty business.

    May God help Barack Obama.

  32. Of course he knew. Newsmax. com had an article today saying one of their reporters attended a service there with Obama where Ani-American sermons were given in July of last year. But for anyone to claim that they were that close to someone for 20 years and never knew something that was so overt and publicly known is preposterous. Even Obama’s diehard supporters are not buying that lie. They just don’t care. But He knew. He chose to belong to that church out of all the thousands of churches he could have chosen. He picked the one that most fit with his beliefs. He is as racist as his pastor. It would be different if he was born into that church and was tied to it by family and tradition. Then he could make excuses for tolerating its prejudice. But he was an atheist before he chose to go to that church. He has no excuse. He chose to follow what was in his own heart. And it led him to hate.
