But Sony screwed up with the PS3. It was bound to happen, even the best companies fall at some point. And I try to be open minded about things but Sony isn’t perfect and they do deserve criticism at times because they make their fair share of poor business decisions too just like Sega did.

So the Xbox has Kinect, and the Wii still has some big titles coming out for it like Zelda, and Mario games. 3D gaming will not save the PS3 by the time the next gen Wii and Xbox are out. Not that many people own 3D TVs yet because they’re too expensive. Right now 360 is leading in sales by about 5 million units and the Wii still has the PS3 by about 40 million units.

@avengful your rite about sony losing money off the ps3 cuz the production cost was more than the sale price cuz it was better and faster than the xbox and wii. when they made the ps3 slim, they made it just as good as the xbox so they can afford it and still be in the competition. but trust me xbox and wii won’t win. ps3 is already coming out with new accesories like the playstation move and new updates like 3D gaming. PS3 didn’t lose the competition, they just got pulled back.

Google “Money lost on Sony PS3″ and you will get a big long list of articles. Sony lost about $3 billion on the original fat PS3 that’s about $260 lost on every console sold. It cost Sony about $800 per fat PS3 to produce. They cut production costs to about $400 or half on every new slim to produce and they’re still losing money. lol

@Pentdad It’s not that I’m not into a genre. LBP is just not my style. I like platformer games like the Mario and Sonic series. Because those games have history and a legacy. You should check out Alan Wake though its a really good story teller for the 360. If you think the PS3 is better than more power to you. I prefer the 360 because the controllers are more comfortable to hold, it has a better selection of games, and better online features. But that’s just my opinion.

@avengful I guess we will have to disagree then Brother. I’ve never even heard of alan wake, and just cos’ you’re not into a genre doesn’t mean it sucks. I don’t like LBP either but I know lots of folks who do. Its like SNES vs Megadrive, you either like one or the other, and no one could ever persuade me that their xbox is better than my ps3, and vice versa im sure.

@avengful I get what you mean dude, I can see how Blu Ray is a total gimmick. But when people say ‘true gamers’ it always seems like they mean fans of the geekyest of (often) first person shooters eg Halo, meaning that Xbox is a real gamers console. Thing is I see PS3′s revolutionary titles such as Little Big Planet (design your own platformer) and Heavy Rain (play in your own movie) as the real cutting edge stuff. What do you think?

@Pentdad The PS2 and PS3 are gimmicks, they are not true game consoles. With the exception of the PS1 it had a variety of good games. I guarantee you Sony put more money into developing and marketing the DVD player and Blu Ray players than they did into games for the systems. Because that’s what Sony makes their money off of. That’s why the launch games for them were shit. Because Sony knows they cannot rely on and will not win on just games alone.

@MasterStacona Well the DVD hype is over and everything will be digital in the future. Look at the PS3 launch it was a disaster. Sony lost so much money on the PS3 that’s why they scrambled to quickly put out the PS3 slim. They put the cheapest parts they possibly could in the slim to bring down production cost that’s why it looks like shit. Sony is getting its ass kicked now by the xbox and the wii. And it’s only a matter of time until blu ray becomes obsolete.

The biggest issue with the PS3 is them trying to re-market the DVD by calling it “Blu-Ray”, which is just a DVD, in an age where everything is moving towards being completely digital, Microsoft is smart with the ability to stream video from your PC to your Xbox 360 through your network. . .

Fuck the PS2. Who the hell needs a DVD player? Honestly what is so amazing about a DVD player? The fact that you can get a movie on a disc rather than a vhs? People were so stupid back then. I buy video game systems to play games not watch movies.
